Number Coding Decoding - Tabular

NUMBER CODING DECODING: Number - Alphabet coding: In these type of questions, either numerical code values are assigned to a word or alphabetical code letters are assigned to the numbers. The students are required to analyse the code as per the directions given.

In a certain code, the letters of English alphabet ( consonants and vowels) are coded in a particular way. The numeric code for each letter is given in bracket under coded form and corresponds to the letter in the word in same serial order. We need to develop the rules and study the code forms of the given words. Applying those rules, answer the questions that follow in two sets.

Few examples are

Example 1 : If code of BOOT is [5] [20] [20] [5],   code of  BAT is [5] [10] [5], then what is the code of the word LOOK ?

(a)   [5] [20] [20] [5]         (b)   [5] [20] [5] [20]           (c)   [5] [20] [5] [5]          (d)  [5] [20] [20] [20]

Answer : (a)

Solution : In the above question, it is visible that BOOT contains 4 letters and first and fourth is consonant and second and third is vowel. So, the In case of LOOK , it contains 4 letters and first and fourth is consonant and second and third is vowel. So, the code of LOOK is [5] [20] [20] [5]  .

Example 2 : If code of FOAM is [5] [15] [15] [5], code of POUR is [5] [15] [15] [5], then which of the following have same code ?

(a) TOOK       (b)  DATA             (c)  SUIT          (d)  OPEN

Answer : (c)

Solution : In the given examples the code of FOAM is (5) (15) (15) (5), code of POUR is (5) (15) (15) (5) .We find that the word contains 4 letters but each starts from consonant and ends with the consonant  and the second and third letters are vowels but both are different vowel, So, we need to find the similar word which starts from consonants and ends with consonants and second and third should be different vowels.

So, the answer is SUIT.

Example 3 : If code of PUT is (5)(10)(5), ATE is (0)(5)(0), then what will be the code of DOG ?

(a)     (5)(0)(5)                   (b)    (5)(10)(5)                            (c)    (0)(5)(10)                             (d)   (0)(5)(0)

Answer :  (b)

Solution  : In the above question, it is visible that code of PUT is (5)(10)(5), ATE is (0)(5)(0).

We find that the given word PUT, contains 3 letters and first and third are consonant and second is vowel , but, In case of ATE first and third are vowels.

Similarly, in case of DOG word, it  contains 3 letters and first and third are consonant and second is vowel.

Example 4 : If code of  SAGE  and WAGE is (5)(25)(5)(25) , then which of the following have same code ?

(a)  OPEN             (b)  UNIT                    (c)  DATA             (d)   HOPE

Answer : (d)

Solution : In the above question, it is visible that code of  SAGE  and WAGE is (5)(25)(5)(25) .

We find that the given words SAGE  and WAGE, contains 4 letters in it and first and third are consonants and second and fourth are vowels.

Similarly, in the given options only HOPE is the word which contains first and third are consonants and second and fourth are vowels.

So, the answer is HOPE .

Example 5 : If the code of OPEN is (30)(5)(30)(5) and code of DATA is (10)(5)(10)(5), Then what will be the code of UNIT ?

(a)    (5)(10)(5)(10)           (b)    (10)(5)(10)(5)                            (c)    (30)(5)(30)(5)                            (d)  (10)(5)(0)(5)

Answer : (c)

Solution : In the above question, it is visible that code of  OPEN is (30)(5)(30)(5) and code of DATA is (10)(5)(10)(5).
